Israel is in the midst of a crisis. The tragic fires in the Carmel Mountains may be extinguished but thousands of Israelis are now suffering the consequences. Homes have been destroyed, neighborhoods have been ravaged and many families are struggling with how they will find their next meal. Thousands of our brothers and sisters in Israel have lost everything as a result of this catastrophic disaster.

After the fires began last Friday, Meir Panim worked with the local municipality of Or Akiva to prepare and deliver over 1,000 meals daily to hardworking firefighters and rescue workers; and to provide emergency provisions for evacuees forced to live in shelters and community centers.

Rest assured that Meir Panim is and will continue to serve meals daily to those who have been displaced, but we cannot do this important rescue work alone. Now, more than ever before, Israel needs your help!

First and foremost, Meir Panim is working to help Israelis who don’t have insurance. We hope to secure funds to assist children and families who have suffered severe trauma. We are also providing furniture, home appliances and blankets from our Power of Giving warehouses for families whose homes have been damaged or lost. While we can't project an exact estimate for these specific needs, we will get back to you in the next few weeks with a more detailed report.

More than 750 homes were damaged. 70 among them were completely destroyed.

The government of Israel is offering an immediate meager grant of 2,500 NIS (less than $700) to individuals whose homes have been completely destroyed. BUT THIS IS NOT ENOUGH HELP!
